Beach nourishment
We are the UK’s specialist national contractor for earthmoving, crushing & recycling, and flood, coast & marine defence works.
Specialist beach nourishment and replenishment
Beach nourishment involves adding suitable material to a beach to restore or maintain its required levels, volume and profile, helping to protect the wider coastal defence system. OEC provides the specialist plant, experienced operators and practical expertise needed to deliver planned beach nourishment and beach replenishment programmes, including the handling, placement and profiling of new or imported beach material.
Unlike beach recycling, which redistributes existing material from one part of a beach or coastal system to another, beach nourishment involves bringing in and placing additional material where it is required. From handling and placing material through to distribution and beach reprofiling, we plan our works around site access, tidal windows, environmental requirements and programme constraints.
Beach nourishment can involve significant volumes of material being transported, placed and distributed along a shoreline. Our teams can help with:
- Beach nourishment and beach replenishment
- Beach sand replenishment and sediment placement
- Handling and placement of imported beach material
- Material distribution and profiling
- Beach restoration and reprofiling
- Coastal earthworks and material management
We own and operate a comprehensive fleet of sea defence specialist plant, allowing us to match the right equipment to the material, access and conditions of each beach nourishment and beach replenishment project. Combined with our experienced operators, we are the sea defence contractors you need for safe, efficient and reliable delivery.
