Quality assurance
Our QA goes beyond compliance, it underpins responsible, efficient and long-term delivery
At OEC, we understand clearly how for all clients in the modern environment – from Tier 1 contractors to local authorities to material producers – quality assurance is not a box ticking exercise but a critical enabler of programme certainty, risk mitigation and long-term asset performance.
Our commitment to quality assurance is built on three core pillars: robust documentation, continuous staff development and independent auditing and compliance.
By integrating rigorous documentation, investing in our people and validating our processes through independent auditing, we deliver a quality assurance approach that Tier 1 contractors can rely on, project after project.
Documentation: Structured, transparent, accountable
We operate within a disciplined framework of documentation that supports every stage of delivery. Our Construction Phase Plans (CDMs), RAMS, Environmental Management Plans and Traffic Management Plans are carefully prepared to meet principal contractor requirements and regulatory standards.
Alongside this, we provide clear inductions, regular toolbox talks and task-specific risk assessments, particularly where Tier 1 contractors require additional controls beyond agreed RAMS.
This approach ensures all operatives understand not only what they are doing, but how and why it must be carried out safely and efficiently.
The result is full traceability, reduced uncertainty on site and a consistently high standard of execution. Our structured process underpins safe, compliant and efficient delivery across every project.
Staff development & training: Investing in capability
Quality assurance is only as strong as the people delivering it. We place significant emphasis on training, upskilling and long-term career development across our workforce.
Our teams include highly experienced operators – many with over 20 years in the industry – whose expertise provides reliability and depth on complex projects. At the same time, we are actively developing the next generation through apprenticeships and clear progression pathways, nurturing the continuity of skills and leadership.
We also utilise platforms such as MSite to manage workforce competency, site access and compliance in real time. This enables full visibility of qualifications, training records and site attendance, supporting both operational efficiency and audit readiness.
By combining experience with forward-looking development, we’re proud to maintain a workforce that is both highly skilled and continuously improving.
Our strength comes from combining real experience with continuous development, creating a team that’s not only highly skilled but always moving forward.
Independent auditing & compliance: Verifiable standards
To ensure our standards are not only maintained but continually challenged, we engage independent third-party auditing through Alcums ISOQAR.
Our operations are independently audited and certified to internationally recognised standards including ISO 9001 for Quality Management and ISO 14001 for Environmental Management. These accreditations reflect our commitment to consistent quality, continual improvement, environmental responsibility, and delivering projects to the highest operational standards.
These audits provide objective assessment of our health, safety, environmental and quality processes, ensuring alignment with industry best practice and Tier 1 expectations. More importantly, they create a feedback loop that drives continual improvement across our operations.
This external validation gives our clients confidence that our systems are robust, transparent and consistently applied.
